Q: I already own a SIP phone and I would like to use your SIPphone directory service. What should I do?
A: First, you need to sign up with our service at SIPphone Sign Up. These are the settings that you will want to use:
SIP Server: proxy01.sipphone.com (130.94.123.252) STUN Server: stun01.sipphone.com (69.0.208.27) NTP Server: ntp01.sipphone.com TFTP Server: tftp01.sipphone.com (130.94.123.253)
Currently the SIPphone directory service has only been tested with the Grandstream BudgeTone? 100 phone. Please check back for further updates on "SIPphone friendly" SIP phones. |

 | reply to jeffpulver You can also dial FWD, IPtel and Iaxtel numbers. How long before we can dial from FWD or SIPPhone to Vonage, Packet8, Voicepulse I wonder?
Q: What numbers can I dial using a SIP phone?
A: Already there are thousands of SIP numbers you can call today. Because SIP phones can call any other user with a SIP phone on the Internet, the list is growing very rapidly. All numbers from phones sold via SIPphone begin with 747 (which spells SIP). There are several other SIP services on the Internet which the SIPphone directory makes possible to call including FWD (393), IPtel (478) and Iaxtel (700).
Here are some illustrations about how you dial SIP numbers using a SIP phone:
To call the SIPphone number 474-5000, you would dial 474-5000 or 1-747-474-5000. (SIPphone welcome recording) To call the 800 number 800-555-1212, you would dial 1-800-555-1212. (800 directory service) To call the FWD number 55555, you would dial 1-393-55555. (This is their volunteer line where someone from around the world could answer.) To call the IPtel number 123456 you would dial, 1-478-123456. To call the Iaxtel number 700-456-7890 you would dial, 1-700-456-7890. |

 | reply to jeffpulver In other words (except for the numbering scheme) it's just a copy of FWD? |

No problems with the SIP(747), FWD(393), or Iaxtel(700). But the IPtel(478) is the same as the new overlay area code for the Atlanta area in Georgia. For futures purposes, if I was them, I'd change that. Especially if they add calling to Packet8, Vonage, etc... |

Isn't it possible that all of these "area-code" prefixes could be used in the US PSTN network in the future?? -- (1) It's either 99¢ or $0.99; not .99¢ (2) It's "so MUCH fun" not "so fun" |
|
 | reply to Derwin0 Thanks for catching the typo. IPTel's domain prefix is "477" not "478". It has since been corrected in our FAQ. |

Actually, 478 is Macon, not metro Atlanta. At any rate, it was a typo and is a moot issue now.

If you already have a SIP phone go to »my.sipphone.com/user/reg/index.php and sign up. |
|
 | Ahh, I see. Automate, I think this is just for setting up a SIP account *without* the SIPPhone hardware.
They say the two phones will arrive with "unique" numbers, so I thought I would use those numbers on my.sipphone.com. If I set up a third number there, that kindof defeats the purpose.
drosoph, did you register those numbers yourself, or did you somehow find out that your sipphone order would ship with those numbers assigned already? |
