 | Free - eTrust Antivirus v 7 for FREE This was posted in another thred, but I truly feel, with all the viruses going around & with a lot of people, not being prepared, as they should. This really should be pointed out.
quote: In support of Microsoft's launch of Windows Server 2003, we are offering you a fully licensed copy of our award-winning eTrust Antivirus v 7 for FREE. This is not a trial version that will time out after 30 days or is limited in functionally. It's the same solution used by many of the world's largest corporations to protect their critical Microsoft Windows environments.

**Another reason why they maybe giving the full version to people, is because of this lattest worm & also, because there is some off topic talk going around, that version 8 will be out in 6 - 7 months or so. Kind of get everyone hooked.**
Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, & Windows ME I would try AVG Anti-virus Free Edition 6 or the trial 7.

I've been told about this, on a few other programs as well. Thanks for the heads up. |

Yes, provided that you only have one of them with its resident monitor activated and use the other as an on-demand manual scanner. -- Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me |

Lets face it though using more than one AV program at a time can cause problems. You're better off using only one piece of AV software. -- visit smegghead.orgsee the free webcams and post a message on the blue database saying howdy. WTF else ya gonna do? |

BmblbePremium join:2002-12-07 Clackamas, OR | reply to dp Thanks to both I will try having a second as an "on demand" scanner. If any problems arise, I'll get rid of it. My issue is my having been hit extremely hard back in June in spite of having Norton Systemworks 2003 (updated every day) as well as a good firewall and several other small programs (Watchdog, etc). So I have this need to feel protected right now ..........We'll see huh? |

(1) Somewhat true. When two RTM's are active, they'll collide. Some RTM's end this situation fatally( like BSOD), others have soft recovery (aka do nothing or give an error). But one RTM and one on-demand is never bad.
(2) Based on the updated (1), false. KAV makes a _GREAT_ backup scanner, so does ETrust v7. The InoculateIT engine has great unpacking and its sigs aren't too shabby, either. It can be used in conjunction with a non-packer AV (like NAV 2003.) -- Coming to .NET 2.0 Computer.Think(),Server.Crash(),Server.DOSAttack(me). Coming to Visual C++ CDotNetBannerAd in title bar, short int64 and long bool data types |

Afaik it doesn't support that many packers, so great unpacking is a bit of an overstatement imo. |

I read in other forums where people have said it works well on Win98 and I personally checked it out on a WinME box. -- Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me |
