| Brighthouse is NOT Time Warner.
For those that did not already know, Brighthouse is a completely independent company and has no affiliation with Time Warner at all.
I found this out when I went to the local office today and swapped out a faulty modem (no power light). I got to talk to a supervisor when I was there and I brought up the Time Warner to Brighthouse name switch and he gave me a pretty good breakdown.
Brighthouse is owned by Advance/Newhouse. They had a 7 year contract with Time Warner to let them control their cable systems. The contract expired this year and Advance/Newhouse decided not to renew the contract and created Brighthouse to service these areas. Pretty smart business move, let Time Warner spend the money to upgrade the infrastructure then retain control of their cable systems when the contract expired. So those of us in Brighthouse areas are not affected by any decisions made at Time Warner. We are controlled by a completely different company. Brighthouse.

| reply to Gandalf1315 From what I have read, Time Warner still is in control of programming and contracts with networks.
Advance/Newhouse now manages the systems where Time Warner did before the contract was up.
But yes they are separate companies. -- ISPs: Road Runner/Powerlink Current Status: Powerlink

Actually, if you are on either CFL.RR.COM or Tampabay.rr.com, it IS the case. Advance/Newhouse exercised the option to assume control of both Central Florida AND Tampa as of January 1st this year, with the official switchover as of April 1 |
