Re: Free WiFi Play Day on Saturday, August 23rd

Do you know if there's parking available, that doesn't require a 6'8" clearance?

I called the building and they said there is some outdoor parking. The receptionist even checked the parking garage's clearance and it's 7 1/2 feet.

Some other info:

1. Free WiFi will be available throughout the day.

2. Swap tables will be set up. WiFi-ers will bring their surplus WiFi and networking gear and mark their name and price on each item and set it out on the tables.

They will mark each item as "working order" or "as-is" and any other comment they choose to make about condition.

Volunteers will watch the tables and collect money. Cash only, unless a particular swapper is willing to take a check.

3. Another presentation has also been scheduled:

HOW TO START A WISP

12:00 Noon: Monthly CAWNet meeting and presentation on how to start your own neighborhood WISP - Bruce Potter & Don Bailey. Bruce is the co-author of the O'Reilly book "802.11 Security." Don is a security professional by day and runs a neighborhood WISP in Potomac Falls, Virginia.

4. Enough people have RSVPed for the CIT building cafeteria (usually not open on Saturday) to be open with a light lunch menu -- hotdogs, sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, juices, coffee.

5. Don't forget to RSVP to cawnet@gainesgroup.com if you plan to come.

I can clear that!
But I might end up carpooling with a buddy.

* wonders if anyone will make accusations of "excessive bandwidth use" *

Great! I'll be there probably through lunchtime. I'll be demonstrating a Secure Shell client on my laptop (Anonymizer's Total Net Shield).
