Maybe THIS link could explain it.
There was a MUCH better page posted on here a couple years back that showed the interconnections between US/International Corporations, their CEO/Boards, and our Government. It was done in flash, I think, and allowed you to hyperlink on each and every individual and corp.
Anyway, you wanted to know how Emperor Geo. the 2nd knew it wasn't a terrorist attack... well, read. There ya go.

It doesn't work that way - reminds me of those movies where the bad guy calls the fire department and says "oops, false alarm, don't send the fire trucks", or someone uses the internet to crash an airplane. |

Do you think our government will do anything about it? Or will they dismiss the people who are trying to sound the alarm as computer geeks who take this stuff to seriously?
We will have a cyber pearl harbor before we secure ourselves. That's just the way our government works. After the fact. It's been proven to many times to list. |

| reply to phatmdcrab It's good to know they might actually be taking it seriously.
I have a question though. Where I work they have a network used to transfer information to and from our POS(point of sale) system. This is an exclusive network that can't be reached by any joe schmoe. I imagine it has to have an ip address to function. But as far as I know only the people at HQ can access it. Why can't this type of network be used for vital systems like they talked about in the video?
I am not exactly sure how it works. Maybe I am way off base with my description of the system. Maybe someone who has some knowledge about these things could tell me I am wrong about the way it works.
Just a random thought from the Jello like substance in my head that I call a brain. |

| reply to phatmdcrab The most amazing thing about this is, for me at least, its old news. I left law enforcement 6 years ago to join the private sector, towards the end of my "tour" I was taking classes in Sacramento from a group of guys teaching computer seizure, examination, hacking, network intrusion etc,... We had speakers from DOE (dept. of energy) guys who wrote the original NID programs, really smart intelligent people. They were in agreement that the way to hurt this country was to take out its power grid, shut off the supply of money by bringing down the ATM's for a few weeks or, hit wall street. These were topics of discussion in the law enforcement community 8 years ago, the government is way behind. At the time I was in the last class, the FBI only had 6 people in the state who were "experts" in cyber crimes. Back at my own department, I could not even get the time of day little own budget for a program, our county still does not have a cyber crime team. I left the public sector for these very reasons. -- Hey! It's either one Nation under God - or - Bite my ass and leave! |
