| A friend of mine out in the valley has had Adelphia for 3 months and has had no probs until the recent worm outbreak. This wasn't Adelphia's fault and as of this morning they seem to have taken care of the prob.
As for me i've had adelphia for almost 1 year and have had maybe 4 outages that lasted no more than 2 to 3 hrs each. I have always received the advertised speeds (3000/128 then tiered to 2000/256) 24/7.
All in all adelphia has been a good choice for me so i'd definitely recommend it. Besides, with no contract you can't lose. [text was edited by author 2003-08-22 09:56:46] |

| reply to oringe I've had adelphia as long as its been in the san fernando valley. I don't know who your local office would be but I would assume the one in van nuys on oxnard. I had them before they were adelphia too.
As soon as I got it, I've had connectivity problems. And I know my problems were local, i.e., my house (too many tvs, weak signal). Each time I would come someone would tweak something but the problem always returned. Each time my problem was treated in an isolated way as opposed to a cumulative thing so nothing would get done and I could not find one tech who wanted to take the time and trouble shoot my problem. The last guy I got actually seemed to know and care about what going on and after leaving my modem working he gave me his supervisor's number in case things went wrong, since this time which was shortly after i got the terayon TJ 715x modem I've been very stable. I don't know if it was that one thing that needed fixing or it was the sum total of having finally changed everything they could change.
As far as outages and service in van nuys I would say it's very good, it is very consistent. I don't depend on adelphia email so I couldn't tell you there. If you plan on having a webpage with them expect that to go down often. Usenet is useless on adelphia as well.
I would suggest you get it and get in the summer cause that's when I've had the most problems with it, if it works for you right away , then you probably will have good service. |

| reply to oringe I got Adelphia cable installed on Wednesday, August 20, and I live in Arleta.
Right off the bat (before the tech even left my house), my modem went off-line. The tech messed around with the cables (inside and outside), went up the pole, again. And could not fix the problem. Ever 10 minutes or so, I would go off-line. All the tech could do was schedule me for another tech to come the next day to take a look.
After going off-line for about the 10th time (and each time I would have to unplug the modem, plug it back in and reboot my PC), it hit me......I deleted this stupid pop-up blocker I had. I haven't been off-line since.
I notice the network gets slower in the evening, sometimes crawling (I had a conn of 57k tonight). But that was unusual. But in the AM, it's not unusual to see it go up past 1000. I've even seen it hit 1600.
I haven't cancelled my DSL yet. I'm still comparing the two. With my DSL, I get an average of 750 kbs. The lowest I had with my DSL was 450 Kbs. |

@adelphia.net | reply to oringe Ooops.
I just realized I said 1600. I meant 1300. |
