| Atlanta, new letter regarding 3mbps
Hey folks,
Just got an e-mail like 2 seconds ago stating:

To: Comcast High-Speed Internet Customer From: Comcast High-Speed Internet RE: Important News About Your Internet Service We are pleased to inform you that Comcast plans to offer an Internet product with higher download speeds than the current 1.5 Megabits service to which you now subscribe.
In preparation for this higher speed product we will begin running tests in our Atlanta market. Doing so will help us evaluate network capacity so we can continue to offer the highest possible download speeds for all users.
During this test, your Comcast High-Speed Internet download speed will increase up to 3 Megabits per second, about twice as fast as your current download speeds. Please understand that every user will not experience higher speeds at all times during this test.
You will receive the upgrade automatically and at no additional cost over your current monthly service rate. You do not need to download any software or make changes to your computer to take advantage of this increased speed.
Please provide any comments and your user experiences to atlantacomments@comcastpc.com during this test.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Comcast High-Speed Internet service.
The 3.0 Mbps speed upgrade is provided on a temporary basis while Comcast evaluates its network capabilities. Comcast reserves the right to revert to the 1.5 Mbps speed and otherwise change its speed after 9/30/03. The speed change only affects Comcast High-Speed Internet service plans. If you have a different service plan, your speeds will not be changed. Speed comparisons are for downloads only and are compared with Comcast's 1.5 Mbps High-Speed Internet service. Upstream speeds limited to 256 kbps. Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed. Many factors affect download speed. Call 1-800-COMCAST for details and restrictions. |

You know what though guys, this paragraph makes me feel that this WILL not be the standard speed for our current speed/price plan. |

| reply to Holyearth No, I was just curious if the extra 1.5mbps would be taken back and used for something other then internet service. As much as Comcast has been talking about higher speeds, I doubt it would be for anything else but was just asking if it was a possibility. |

Actually, I believe they can reset the modem(s) remotely to force it to load the new config if they want to. |

No kidding...I would love to be able to cut my HSI bill by 1/2...even if it's temporary. -- Powered by Barry McKockenner Racing in association with Jack McKokkov Motorsports |

Yes, that is true, but from many user's reports, comcast is not doing that. Therefore a powercycle would be required. When I got the upgrade to 256 up, I had to powercycle. -- You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! |

| Are any of these markets where they're doing this testings markets with Pro customers? If so, are they doing anything with the Pro customers except charging twice the price for the extra 200kbps? -- Powered by Barry McKockenner Racing in association with Jack McKokkov Motorsports |
