I downloaded it, but have not been able to find someone to talk to.
We should exchange usernames, and see if we can test-out the quality.

Just called a friend in another state and waited while he downloaded the app. Fired it up and then hung up the real telephone. The sound is amazing!!! He asked me what the hum was in the backgound and I told him I was in the server room!!! No ports to forward, truly plug and play! The only thing you cannot do is call someone on POTS!!!
Remarkable little app!!!! |

It's an installer that just installs the app itself. I'm running Ad-Aware now, to double-check. -- Elias |

I saw some other discussion about spyware and the people there said that they didn't find any spyware, but posted some of the TOS that appeared to indicate that the future could change that.
If you know Kazaa you will know that Kazaa likes Adware and spyware, why would this product be any different? |

Well, maybe they're giving us a break since it's still BETA. -- Elias |

ms kid are you online now, can I test calling you? |
|

So do you have to use your computer speakers/mic? Isn't it like using ms netmeeting? It's been a while since I've used that! |

Hi I have tried it too with a friend in Germany itself.. But the voice breaks and the quality was so so. And there was lot of echo.. Both of us were on T-DSL at 750 Kbps. But his computer is i guess PIII 450 Mhz. That could be one reason.
Then i called someone randomly in germany and the voice was pretty good. Then I tried someone in States and the voice was really excellent. Very loud and very clear. I spoke to that person for around 15 mins.. Absolutely no probs.
And then i tried with other people in Afganistan and Bangladesh.. No one answered the call in Afganistan, but one guy answered in Bangladesh, but couldnt establish voice chat with him.. Had to hangup..
But i would say, this has to evolve a lot and the reliability has to improve. Cheers |

i could take calls when i am home.. I cannot use it in office. Probably due to firewalls and stuff.. |

So you're using regular computer speakers/mic or a headset attached to your computer, right? |
|

Re: The launch of Skype from the makers of KazaaCMReddy..this may sound stupid, but how did you find random people to talk to? I want to test the system. My online name is same terrifh. Thanks. How is Skype different from any other voice chat in Yahoo messenger, AOL, etc?? Is it full duplex? |

Hi, I did a random search by county...but even though it showed varuous people online it did not mean they were available to take a call... feel free to try and call me, as I would love to see how it works...
Then I can answer digiblur's question. |

Hi All,
today i spoke to Terrifh and the quality is pretty good. She had 2000 Kbps cable and 128 uplink speed. I have 750K downlink, and dont know whats the uplink speed is. But voice was quite fine.. Just like any other phone. Sorry Section13 I didnt read the forum.. I guess you can call Terrifh or call randomly.. choose a country and patiently call everyone.. Someone would answer..
by the way, i spoke to a guy in India yesterday and he had 128 kbps link and the voice was pretty good. Occational breaking in voice, but that was bearable. Over all, i would say the reliability still has to improve. |

Hi cmreddy and everyone...as CMR said we spoke last night. It definitely beat my expectations. Later on regular tel line spoke with a friend in Hong Kong and the call was not as clear!! I have my friends overseas signing up. This could be a fun and economical new tech toy for me. Unlike other phone services I do not expect it to be consistent or reliable.
Section 13 feel free to call me if you want to test your connection. |
