How much do you pay monthly?

I live in Rockville, Maryland (Montgomery County) and I pay around $90 total a month for my cable tv and my broadband from comcast. How much do you guys pay a month total and where are you all located? I think this price is kinda high. My bill says something like

Basic cable tv $19
Basic Premium (or whatever it says, i forget) $29
Broadband Silver $42

Now i was told that the basic cable gives me channel from 1-32 and the basic premium gives me the other channels like tbs, usa, espn, mtv and such. I dont have any "PREMIUM" channels like hbo or cinnemax or anything.

Is there anyway to reduce the broadband price or cable prices??

To make yours cheaper, the only thing you can do is get Basic-Basic...ditching the extra basic channels (so all you would end up getting is your local networks). It's like $10-$11 in most places but according to your list, it's $20?

My latest bill here in SoCal...

I pay $54.95 before taxes..
Limited Basic $12.00
Online Service $42.95

Looks like your rates are correct. I know that the rates are higher in MCMD then a lot of other areas.

I'm on a special price which a Groton, CT resident gets only.
It's $19.00 only with 1.5/256.
I'm satisfied with the service for the price.
And on top of that, it's *NOT* promotional price.

I find it really hard to believe that comcast would give you more then half off. How do you know its not the standard 6 month promotion? I wouldn't trust what the sales rep told you. Can you provide a link to a website showing that deal? Or a scan of a contract?

can I get on the $19.99 6 month promotion even though I already have broadband? I need to somehow bring the price down.

Its kinda retarded how they charge for basic cable and then also charge for basic premium. The basic premium should just include the basic channel in it.

Since you're in Montgomery county, call and ask about the "VIP Package".

It's a package deal for cable and internet, with prices that are guaranteed thru the end of this year.

I believe the lower tier VIP pack is something like 79 bucks. It offers the basic and digital preferred service (call to confirm, I don't have this package myself) and no pay channels. It also offers internet service in the package.

The only extra charge you might have is if you have multiple converters.

I don't even know if they still promote or use this package, but it surely can't hurt to call and ask. As far as I know, this is a Montgomery County, MD only package.

It was only over the phone though, If you don't believe I can scan my bill and post it online.
I'm renting a modem from them so my total bill is about $23.00 including tax.

Also I couldn't believe when I heard about that from service representative over the phone.

So I asked many times and they confirmed that it was not promotional price.

The VIP package is still listed on the MCMD pricing page - says it's good through 2003.

Here are the details. Click on "Product/Price Info" in red, bottom right, and scroll down to "promotions".

I don't have a bill in front of me but it's roughly $50 a month for the basic extended analog cable tv service (channels 2 - 69) and $42.95 a month for HSI... roughly $92.95. Almost $1,200 a year for just TV and internet service. RIP OFF!

I (well I shouldn't say I, I tell you in a minute) pay 60.95 a month for standard HSI and no cable tv. However, like I was saying earlier, I don't pay 60.95 though. My wife works from home and uses the connection for work so her company pays for our internet connection and the phone bill. Now only if I can get them to pay the DTV bill.

$55 or so, basic cable and HSI, we get free "Basic premium" because someone came and put the filter on the line to block the higher channels (after a promotion to give us all of the was over) , which threw my cable offline, I then proceeded to remove the filter, call comcast and told them I removed it because it threw my cablem modem offline, and if they wanted to block the channels they would have to come get the filter themselves and put it on in a place where it would not block the channels, they said ok when can we make an appointment, I told them the line was outside and I wouldn;t need to be home, so just come whenever you want, the lady got a little confused, and basically said ok I send a truck out, that was over a year ago and nothing has happened since then, still got the filter clearly off sittign next to the box, and they have been told I took it off, as far as im converned according to the rules of ethics, i did my part.
