Re: Back up after 5 weeks in Bay Area!

You are lucky.
My line was switched from Northpoint to Rhythms on April 30. However, Megapath was not able to connect and configure it. Apparently PacBell and Rhythms had the pairs labelled differently in the DSLAM. When they finally got together to inspect it, they discovered that "the pairs were not wired correctly." Apparently, there are several other customers who have the same problem.
Now, PacBell is refusing to allow the Rhythms people in to tinker with their end of the lines and when asked when the problem will be fixed is refusing to give an estimate (ie "we will get to it when we feel like it").
I spoke to Megapath's customer care manager and he is escalating it to the management level. He personally called me back to give me a status update. I can't complain about Megapath, they are doing everything they can to get me back up.
If Pacbell continues to obstruct,I will file a complaint with the PUC at the end of this week, with copies to all the tech reporters for Bay Area newspapers, my Congressman and of course, Congressman Conyers so he can use this as an example of why we must not give the Bells any more monopolistic power than they now have.
The arrogance and contempt for customers of the PacBell suits is breathtaking.

Congrats......

Same here, had 784/784 with NP/DSLi.com, but now I have 768/128 with Ameritech ADSL (tests @ 640/135). Took about 3 weeks to get up and running again, but upload does suck..
ADSL is better than dial-up, on any day, at any time, and I must congratulate A-Tech at getting me up and running again in less than one month....

24MB isn't bad.....but I send much bigger files ......

Finally! I got the new Telocity/PacBell modem on Tues., hooked it up, no connection. Called Telocity, they said PacBell didn't complete the switch.

A PacBell Tech came out this morning, checked the line, figured out what needed to be done, went away, I quickly got a call from Telocity, then about 4:30 PM I checked and both lights were steady, so I installed the software and voila!

Old connection: SDSL 768/768

New connection: ADSL 623/108 highest test so far, I suspect it's 768/128.

As long as it stays up I'm happy for now. Of course, I'll see how that first 24 meg upload to my boss goes

Thanks, DSL reports, for all the info and commiseration while I was down.
