| I don't really think a poll could ever cover all of what the user community thinks..because there are just *that* many twirks..it would do better to maybe check for something like "which CMS do you use?"..other than providing people with a 100 question questionare -- If it can be smoked, its prolly not going to be good for you. | |

| Re: Listing of CMS / Forums for Webmasters For small to medium sized businesses, take a look at www.elementscms.com. I have spoken with several companies in California that use them and absolutely love it.
I know elementCMS (singular) has already been posted, but they are two completely different companies.

Here's a review of Drupal for folks who may be interested: »codemonkeyx.net/node/view/2
The site, codemonkeyx.net, just made the move from a custom phpbb portal to Drupal.

| Re: Listing of CMS / Forums for Webmasters hehe... I know. I was more or less joking... it's pretty obvious that there aren't too many .net developers in this forum (or on bbr it seems). But I'm always here if anyone has any questions!
Not that I'm in love with MS (I do use php and other stuff), but their .NET stuff is pretty cool. As far as costs... it is mostly perception that isn't always true. All you have to buy is the server software and everything else is free. (Web edition is around $350 »hardwarecentral.dealtime.com/xPO···20740721) You can run mySQL or any other DB to power it too.

| The iBuySpy Portal is rather limited IMO. I haven't used DotNetNuke yet. Never heard of the Rainbow Portal. It's Contact and Discussion modules look similar to iBuySpy's.
This forum is mostly OSS language oriented - PHP, Perl, Python, etc. There are more PHP/MySQL users (and questions) than ASP.NET and ASP. I use ASP.NET everyday but I guess I know it enough not to have to ask questions. Either that or I know how to STFW and RTFM -- ___________________________ And that's the bottom line.

| Re: Listing of CMS / Forums for Webmasters Yes, iBuySpy Portal IS limited, which is why DotNetNuke and Rainbow Portal are built on the basic principles of iBuySpy but extend the feature set. One is a GPL licence and one is a BSD licence. There are more ASP/ASP.NET developers than you think... and we shouldn't discourage them from asking questions here. (which is why we should list some asp.net open source projects along with the others) | |

| I am making a CMS from PHPBB.com's board. BTW, the board I need anyway. I thought that it would be ambiguous to have two different systems, one for website and another for the bulletin board. Easy enough to do, post in a hidden forum, then read it from MySQL with PHP into a website. -- Who drank has died, who drinks will die. Is he immortal who is sober? | |
