I have been looking at 4 cms besides Modx which I like the best so far. very well documented.Probably has all you will ever need.

snews is also a favorite

For small to medium sized businesses, take a look at www.elementscms.com. I have spoken with several companies in California that use them and absolutely love it.

I know elementCMS (singular) has already been posted, but they are two completely different companies.

CMS Made Simple

Here's a pretty good CMS with a small (but growing) community. It's got great potential, but the documentation is a bit weak. It's still worth a look see, IMHO.
