One more option is Verizon offers a wireless card that access the Cellular network. I don't know how pricey it is, but I have seen it in the Verizon store.
Unlimited Express Network...$80/mo, bursts up to 144k/sec (ISDN/IDSL speeds) with average throughput not much better than a 56k modem, and VERY high latency (500-600 ms.) IMO, it's not at all suited for fixed connectivity, and VZW doesn't market it as such.

Thanks alot for the replies, I think I will try to go with comcast.
I think comcast serves my apartment area so thats good. I probably would have tried to get a phone line + dsl if I had not posted on here, so Im glad I did.
Thanks again, Mike.

The only one that can offer you "everything" (phone + cable + Internet) is Comcast, but they don't serve some apartment complexes at all (see the link in my .sig ), and they provide phone service to only a very small number of apartment complexes, most of them in Midtown.

To get ADSL you will need BellSouth dialtone (unless you go with a CLEC that also offers DSL -- but depending on where you are you may *have* to get BellSouth dialtone to get ANY DSL)...to get SDSL you don't need any dialtone, but again you may be unable to get SDSL depending on where you are. Comcast will provide Internet with no TV service; some other companies that serve (only) apartment complexes will and others won't.

If you consider the cost of the phone line (and you don't otherwise intend to have a landline) then Comcast is cheaper than BLS DSL- $57.95 all in vs. $17.45 + $49.95= $67.40.

You could also use Satellite access, but it is very slow and very expensive. It is around $70 a month for 400kbps download speeds.

I forgot to add, that Comcast price is for 1.5/256 service, but it looks like Comcast is testing a 3 Meg package here right now.

Hey Mike welcome to BBR.

If you want DSL, you'll have to get phone service. As far as I know, there are no providers in this area that offer service on a dry pair. That $50 was on top of phone service.

If you go with cable, you'll be able to get internet service only, but the price is a little higher. Looks like Comcast offers internet only for $57.95.

@kennesaw.edu

I just moved into a new apartment and I do not have any phone or cable service and I want high speed internet. Do I have to get a phone line or cable before I can get high speed internet, or are there any full packages. Im trying to find something at or below 60$ a month(for entire package). Ive checked out speed factory and I dont know if the 50$ a month quote is the price tacked on to whatever phone service fee I would have to pay or what.
Can anyone help me out, thanks.
