RFC - search box

(if this link does not show anything different yet, try later)

In order to encourage searches, I'm thinking of this minor design change to the navigation bar. If you have a strong opinion either way about it, post why. If it was implemented, any and all lhs navigation on any page would appear with this addition.

Re: RFQ - search box

I like the idea, but I don't like the layout. It makes the left sidebar look a bit disjointed. How about placing it between "About us" and the key?

Because people don't look lower down when they come to a new site (and want to find something).
Check the home page of amazon etc.

I wanted to make it a "box", not integrated into the vertical column, hence the little bit of white space. But I can try it without that gap.

I like it. It definitely draws your eye to it, although the gap between the search box and Members really should be tighter (for cosmetic reasons).

Other than that, I really like it.

Anything added to BBR that will facilitate the use of the Search tools gets a thumbs up from me.

LOVE IT. Lots of sites I visit have a search box on a left or right nav bar, so I'm kind of in the habit of going there anyway.

The new look is excellent. I think it should be put up site wide.

Looks good..but I would have liked it better if the "search" was above the icons. I don't especially like have to mouse over the search feature just to "click" on the icons..just my opinion
Edit: Also I think the icons are much more difficult to notice on the sidebar..

Re: RFC - search box

I like it. It will hopefully attract even more members and decrease the number of duplicate questions/threads.
