Yeah, if you're not connecting through a router, you'll need the PPPoE client running on your PC.

The difficulty you're experiencing in detecting the signal may be improved by configuration of the modem. IIRC Westell has a PC client you can install to communicate with the modem. For reference, when I reboot our modem (typically 2-3x / week to clear errors) I notice a 15-20 second synch time, where the ready light goes from slow to fast to steady.

Thanks...do you know where I can get ahold of that utility? Westell's site is horrible...hardly any downloads or support info...(just like Centurytel).

Unfortunately, I don't have it as my Westell came pre-configured by CT. Others tho' have posted about it on this forum, maybe make a new thread requesting it?
