Is there a way to shoehorn the new Alcatel f/w in?

Ok, those of us with good old 516's are using Version 3.8.124 of the Alcatel transceiver firmware.

There is a new one out that the Zyxels are using, Version 3.8.164 that apparently raises the noise margins..

I'm a very borderline case, I need every dB I can get of noise margin. Is there any way we can figure out a way to shoehorn this code and get an update?

Do the exes open up like an archive and we can simply swap the files and it'll automatically update?

Not really. The Alcatel firmware is supplied to the partner (like Westell, ZyXEL, etc.) who integrates it into a complete firmware release. Extreme insider knowledge would be needed for this integration.

Maybe there's hope... how many insiders frequent the forum?
