 Chicago = Oversubscribed? fe-02.bbsr1.chi.megapath

So it's been 30+ days now and our 1.5Mbps SDSL line has been getting around 400/600Kbps downloads.

»/quality/nil/1177265
& our internal test show
fe-02.bbsr1.chi.megapath.net [66.80.128.17] (which is our typical path to i-net) has consistent packet loss and ping times that can jump to 1000+ ms.

Tests at other sites that also have SDSL provided from megapath also report low download bandwidth peaking at around 400-600K download on the 1.5Mbps lines. (How do we know this you ask? We are/were MegaPath access partners and these are our consulting customers.)

Anyone else having issues? Were pretty fed up at MegaPaths inability to find anything wrong with their network. Not to mention the support team which seems to have gone to hell now with a typical hold time of 40+ mins and people who don't seem to know WTF is going on.

Yes. I have had a Frame-Relay T1 circuit with them for about 3 weeks and it's got to be the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen in all my years working with circuits. Packet loss, routing, you name the issue and I've pretty much had it. I'm just about ready to go back to my previous circuit.. Quality of service is poor. I do believe the Chicago routes have many issues. But overall they need to hire some good router people at Megapath without question.

Had the same problem in Washington DC.
Their bandwidth quality is starting to really suck and it is not reliable at all anymore.
I think they are getting a little too big for their current backbone.

The 45 minutes to an hour on hold to get to tech support means that there are many more people with problems also.

I would recommend going somewhere else. We had to eventually.

I just got ADSL 1.5/384 and my speed has been pretty consistent with an average of 1340/330. I'm in a suburb west of chicago.
