New Telocity/PacBell slower. Can anything be done?

I set up my new Telocity/PacBell connection at home last night, and immediately tried out a speed test. Don't remember the exact numbers (I was running out the door), but the speed sucked compared to what I used to get with Northpoint (both upload and download). I have seen other postings reporting the same thing. I will look at it in more detail tonight and tomorrow to see the real numbers. But in the meantime, I figured I would see how common this problem is, and how people are dealing with it. Any suggestions on things to try? (Tweaks, line checks, who to call - ha ha ha, as if they cared). Should I just learn to live with the new slower connection?

Re: New Telocity/PacBell slower. Can anything be done?

With the Pacbell line I'm getting about 500 up / 80 down.. and it was just so bad! At times when my phone rang the line when down, and I got sick of Telocity's waiting, their lies etc,. What I done is, switched to Roadrunner.. I'm getting about 1.8 Mbs down/600 kbps up.. and during peak time I'm dropping to 900kbps-1.1 Mbs- down/250-300 kbs up.. There isn't really you can do about it.. I switched to cable and I'm fariley happy it took about 2 days for me to be and running!! It's a whole lot better then Telocity/Pacbell.. Often times if there problem on the DSL line it's much harder to figure compared to Cable. So if you want to keep DSL, I guess you might have to live with it or switch another broadband carrier. BTW: Telocity might intrest you in DirectTV which I think it isn't really worth it..
