I don't have to read the whole thing.

But a more dvd space? What does that have to do with MPAA?

ah...people can copy a full DVD , without downsampling, with extras, and never buy a DVD again..... I think that does hurt the Motion Picture Association of America, don't cha think?

ROFL!!! Because the MPAA is screwing us some, but the RIAA is ramming it up your A$$! ... Yes, today, CDs cost as much, even more than FULL DVDs w/extras... which is why many of us DESPISE the RIAA even more!

EDIT: Stuff

good... now it will only take one dual layered disk to burn a backup copy instead of two single layered disks

Or ...instead of dumping the extras or downsampling the video to fit on DVD-5, you can keep the DL DVD-9 Discs *intact* now, hahaha.

Hope they come out with -R/-RW version

Will be interesting to see if they are backward-compatible with today's DVD players.

Damonlab - Agree - couldn't have said it better. Prices will be high initially, but come down just as CDR, CDRW, DVD-R/+R DVD-RW/DVD+RW have.

Vorticon - If you read the article, heh, you will find that compatibility was a big issue for the developers, and YES, the new DVD-9 Recordables are backwards compatible with existing standalones and PC DVD Players....

i wish they find a way to make them so its not organic dyes, or put the disc together in an area filled with gas that wont make them decompile over time and have data loss, same with CDR and CDRW.... organic.... decomposing....dye....
