Re: DSL Transfer

Thanks, I called support and found out that my IPs did in fact change. That will cause me several days of work, and waiting for DNS changes to propogate. Thanks for the hint though. Got my modem and firewall up and I'm back online now.

When you move it is like a disconnect and re-connect, you get new ip's. Call in to tech support and see if you can get your new ip's.

Ok,

Tonight I was going about hooking up all my equipment at my new house and just to be ready I plugged in my 5861 DSL router thinking it would not do anything tonight. My official turn-on is the 7th. However to my surprise the modem sync'd and the locked speed was 6028/517 or something very close. I thought "Wow, maybe I'm already good to go"!!

No dice though... the link is there and I see routing protocol packets showing up at my firewall from somewhere, but no TCP traffic yet. My old IPs (static) are not working. My question is; is that kinda normal? I mean am I now just waiting for someone to build my old addresses at the new port? I sure hope they don't just assign new addresses to the account. It will be a royal pain in my ass to change since I run my own domain (DNS, WEB, and MAIL).

Just wondering if that is normal, or if my account is up, but I dont know my IP addresses yet.

Any comments/thoughts welcome
