DSL Reports Speed Tests Wouldn't Complete

Hi,

I had been having problems with the Speed Tests here, in that they would start..but then never complete...just sit there....

Well after MUCH messin and FUSSin, because this also affected my Windows Updates Site....

I bypassed my Home Net router (DLink DI-614+) and went thru the DSL modem directly...and it worked !!

SO I went back thru my router and it doesn't work again....

The problem, in the end was that the Router's WAN setting for the MTU was at 1500.

Apparently this site's speed test, and Windows Update Site needs it to be set to MTU=1492. Don't know if other settings will also work, but 1500 did NOT.

I am not sure why this would be, or what it effect the slight difference in MTU was causing, but I am back up now !!

And Windows Update site works now also...

the online tweak test should also have uncovered this problem.

thanks for pointing it out though, without confusing people it might be useful if I point out on the speed test page that a hanging speed test could be cured by reducing MTU with DrTCP.
