If you're looking for jv's stand-alone registry cleaner without the other bells and whistles, try RegCleaner, still available here.

hello,

I downloaded and installed RegCleaner (jv16 Power Tools), most likely will buy it. However, the first registry cleaner I ran, I was able to successfully delete over 10,000 outdated or errorenous keys, which was nice (noticed that a bunch of my registry settings from my Win95 system came over when I used a file transfer tool - IntelliMover, very odd, but glad to have rid my registry of those keys), but when I run registry cleaner again, it flashes another 100 keys that can be deleted, but then they go away, so I can't delete them.

Would someone mind telling me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

I use Jv16 and in conjunction I use RegSeeker. »www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm RegSeeker is free and will find entries that JV16 fails to find.

Green...but then the listings go away...even if I check them before they disappear.

Cool app...thanks.

I downloaded (nice compact program, and freeware, too, cool)...and now running it to see if it can pick up any stragglers that jv16 missed.

Thanks.

Just remember that both (if you have it setup) will save a backup of the entries you delete. If you have any problems just install the backup. On JV16 I select the Green..Items that should be safe to remove. On RegSeeker, I always select all that it finds. I have never had any problems doing it that way..

Yes, the backup feature is nice, avoids having to use the Export feature in regedit before monkeying with it...

Although I don't know about "On RegSeeker, I always select all that it finds." since I did find the some keys that I don't think should be deleted, including:

CMMGR32.EXE

When I ran a search via Google for this, I came across many links where people were looking for this file...since their systems were screwed up with it deleted.
