Re: [Help] Disable Autocomplete

Believe me I tried doing it on Internet Explorer a billion times. I know how to clear IE's but cannot MSN 8. It seems that MSN 8 and IE are two different programs and when clearing autocomplete in IE does not do anything in MSN 8...mmm...I wonder why?

I hope I'm in the right forum...

DrBruce, I know exactly what you're talking about - the problem is frustrating isn't it? You are right; unchecking the AutoComplete feature in IE does not turn the feature off when using MSN 8. MSN's Tech Support tells me that this feature cannot be disabled. It's called "Intelliforms" and it will automatically fill in every previous log-in name, every previous search, etc. that you have entered. You can delete the previous entries manually, one-by-one, but the feature itself cannot be turned off. It can only be disabled by going into the registry, which I (and I'm sure many others) do not feel comfortable doing. If you want to ensure your security and privacy, you will have to use IE for internet browsing; otherwise, the entries will come up every time you return to a previously-visited page and start to enter a search term/log-in name. I e-mailed MSN's Feedback Dept. and complained about this security/privacy flaw in their software. I find it unbelievable that they don't give the individual user a choice to enable or disable this feature. If I were given a choice, I would certainly disable it not only because of the above mentioned reasons, but because it's just plain annoying!

You mention that you can delete previous MSN Intelliforms entries one-by-one. How do you do that?

Just click in the search box, and highlight the first item in the list. On your keyboard, press the Delete key, and it will remove each entry one at a time
