 Advantex Communications sold

It was announced Friday that Advantex Communications was sold to Grande Communications, which I believe is out of Austin. I'm live in Little Elm and currently use Advantex dsl/phone service and I'm hoping this sale is a good thing. Grande has some good phone packages and according to their website they will start offering new/upgraded services early next year. I sure hope they revamp the dsl packages, I'm tired of paying $40/month for 768/128 when SBC has 1500/128 for $26.99/month. I saw somewhere that they have a phone package deal for I think $50/month that includes all the stuff like caller id plus unlimited local and long distance.

They are also a cable provider and they did mention upgrading the cable to digital.

Hoping for the best here, I'll give them a couple of months and if there are no changes I will be checking to see if SBC has dsl in my neighborhood yet. I've heard it would be turned on in the next month.

Forget the $50 Phone package and get a Vonage digital phone line. I pay less than $37 a month for my entire package taxes and all. That’s a greatly expanded local calling area and unlimited long distance. International calls are cheep too; most around 8 cents a minute. If you have Advantex DSL in Little Elm then you don't have to maintain your phone line to keep your broadband. I don't! Work out the kinks with port forwarding and sending the correct commands to the ATA switch when you need to send faxes and you’ll forget about traditional phone service.

I'm Doug Too

How did I miss this thread?? YEEEHAWW! I'm so glad! They have an "agreement" with my complex for phone, cable, and DSL. Phone is no big deal, their cable sucks so I have Dish Network instead. Their DSL leaves a lot to be desired -- esp. after having AT&T Broadband for 2 years before this. I'm going to have to do some more research on this. Thanks for the post!!!
