Try this:
Telnet to your router, usually 10.0.0.1 If you have a password for the web interface set, use this password to login. type set priv the password is enisecret type set pppvars Just hit enter on every variable to accept the default value, but make sure that "LCP echo failures" is 10, "LCP Interval" is 30. Type exit twice to get out of telnet.
Then check the pppstatus page on the web interface to see if its on.

You must have the 2.3.0(7) Firmware for the command to work (I think 2.3.0(2) may also work, but it is unverified).

Perhaps the fact that your LCP echo timer is OFF is the reason..
LCP Echo Timer This timer (ON or OFF) is set on the receive side of the PPP link and is restarted when any traffic is received. If it expires, the link is probably idle and is dropped.
LCP Echos Pending The number of Echo-Requests that have been sent and are awaiting either timeout or response.
LCP Echo Number The number of Echo-Requests that have been sent.
LCP Echo Interval (in minutes) This interval determines how often Echo-Request messages are sent on idle links to check the viability and integrity of the link.
LCP Echo Fails This is the number of times the link has been dropped due to the expiration of the LCP Echo Timer. -- World Rally Wrules! |

Because they are supposed to be on, that's why. If they are not then your 5660 is mis-configured. said by Diablo6662: my 5660 has restart on but lcp echo off and 0 on echo number.. how does this affect me?? Sounds like LCP failure to me.

If you see the number rising up from zero and this happens on a regular basis, complain to your ISP about dead PPP sessions.
Also check you DSL Status and make sure it shows as being Up and that you didn't have a temporary loss of sync. If you see you have sync, but you no longer have an IP that is another ISP issue to complain about.
Learn to read how the 5660 looks when things are working so you can see what is out of place when it acts up.
