 PPPOE XP native connection problem

I made my broadband connection using the xp-pro(sp1) built in pppoe (like described in this forum). I created the connection but when i try to connect the connection stops on the screen saying something like "trying to estabilish the wan pppoe connection". After a while it says that remote server cannot be reached.

I setted a proper IP in the ethernet adapter and I can ping both my own PC and the modem. The modem configuration page works fine. I used my DSL connection till yesterday without problems and the DSL led in the modem is ON, like the LAN led...please help me I don't want to install back the ISP shit drivers again...

What was the last thing you did or changed before it stopped working. Don't say nothing because there is a good chance you did something to cause it to stop working. Not blaming you as you of course didn't do it on purpose. Could have been something as simple as installing a new piece of software.

Yes for sure something happened.I simply shutted down pc yesterday night and today it stopped working. Maybe some files corruped for some reason.

So now I ask you which is the method to remove and reinstall native PPPOE xp service?I checked XP services but I didn't find anything relative to pppoe

Anyway later I will try again and I will report the exact error.

I also called my ISP and they confirmed me everything is ok on my DSL line so is for sure a software problem I have on my PC.

Hi I am back in internet from work cause at home my DSL doesn't work :-(

I give u more informations. My connection stops during the message "connecting through WAN miniport PPPOE" and after a while i get the error 678 (couldn't connect to remote server).

I reinstalled SP1a for XP but still the same. I checked virus with NAV2004 but nothing.

I can ping my modem and both leds of DSL and network are on.
I will try to use FILEMON to see which files are involved during my PPPOE connection and I'll reinstall them.
I'll also download another compatible PPPOE.

I'll keep u updated but if you have some other idea u are welcome. Thank for your help

Finally I've solved the problem!!!

It was simply an ISP connection problem, maybe I shutted down the PC with a reset and the connection remained hunged in ISP connections' registry.

I am a bit angry cause at a first call the ISP told me that my connection was ok so I started a thousand unuseful checks on my system...

Hi,

I'm now having the same problem. I called my ISP and they told me that nothing they could do. Please tell me how to reset the IPS thing.

Thanks in advance.
