 | packet8 ~ Audio/CODEC Configuration QUESTIOI received my DTA310 and started playing with the CODEC options. From what I have read it seems the best options for someone with a lot of bandwidth is to have G711U, G711A, and G723 selected and Silence Suppression off. I was wondering, by having all these selected how does the DTA310 decide which one to use on a per call bases?
TIA!

 | G711U and G711A are almost the same, no difference in quality or bandwidth. It will use one of these for outgoing calls. G723 will be used for incoming calls. This is until Packet8 makes more changes. |

 | With SIP the calling party sends a list of the available codecs in the preference order. The one with the highest preference that also matches a codec supported by the called party is used. Some SIP client let you specify the codec preference order. The DTA does not. My guess is that the preference order is the order they appear on the config web page. |
