What are your modem signal levels? You might want to try changing your DNS servers to see if that resolves the problem. Also, check your NIC's DHCP lease time. If it is set to renew your address in one hour, that may indicate maintenance going on in your area.

| You go to your LAN properties in the control panel. Check the box to "Show icon in taskbar when connected." Right click on that icon in the task bar and chose status. You will have two tabs. Select the second tab and hit advanced. It will tell you your DHCP lease time.
This is, of course, you are not using a router to maintain your connection. If you are, then look at your router's connection status and see when it is due to renew your address.
