Still nowhere

I'm still caught between Megapath and Verizon. Verizon put the line into the wrong box the last time, and this time they're insisting that they've run the right line, but I see no indication of a new circuit. The only thing that I can think of is that they have managed to reuse my old line under Northpoint. If that's the case, most of the IW is pointless since it's the same circuit right up to my home.

If anyone cares to, go ahead and read my diary here on DSLReports.

Oh, it gets better still...

Now they told me when I called today that my service request was being cancelled.

Can you believe it?

The rep from the IW people (this guy _KNEW NOTHING_) put in a call to cancel the IW because there was no installed loop. If you've followed my saga you'll know that they put it in the wrong building in the first place. He was supposed to be able to get the ball rolling again but he did, or could do, nothing of the sort.

I spoke with a "George Ceja" at Megapath who explained in a calm and rational voice that by calling when I did that I saved myself the agony of starting the whole process over again. My order and I were destined for the electronic dustbin in short order. He spoke with the on-site rep from Rhythms who is going to try and expedite everything, supposedly.

What this will mean is another FOC within three days, supposedly, and then another IW date a week from then. I should go and buy scratch-off lottery tickets... they're better odds!

Re: Oh, it gets better still...

The FOC is supposed to be transmitted to me by Monday. We shall see.

Re: Oh, it gets better still...

My channel 1 light came on this morning but Rhythms has still work to do on their end ?
The odd part is my FOC is next week and the router is still on the same connection as it was when NP was around?
I have no idea what is going on but according to the routers log it is running at 784kb/sec.

Megapath is really trying their best...but I am not hopeful about my DSL. I'm now back to where I was 4 weeks ago...they have "found" my circuit -- but they (PacBell) refuse to tell me or Megapath whether or not its the one written on the tag on the box next to my wall! And now Rhythms has to "do something" to get the line going "by Wednesday." That is what was supposed to happen a month ago but then they found a "problem..." I am not optimistic that they will have SDSL up and running on Wednesday.

I am having cable installed tomorrow. Having seen all the horror stories I decided to let the cable be installed, while Megapath continues to try to make its "partners" do their thing. Once I know for certain that there is SDSL service up and running, I can switch back, I did not sign a contract for the cable, just month to month. I can't take dial up any longer and can't afford to go through what some of you have (like finding out that they gave you IDSL instead of SDSL, the line is screwed up again, etc. etc. etc. I am dial-up'd out!
