You might issue a traceroute (eg. windows TRACERT) for the names
cache00.ns.uu.net thru cache08

and see which are 'nearest or fastest' for you.

You should be able to guess the city names too, and verify the info given earlier.

Here ya go, I was bored and decided to update the MCI DNS list because it seems that the list that eveyone is posting is partially incorrect (or so I think ). I also found some more DNS servers that no one posted yet (again, or so I think ). I used VisualRoute.com and my brains to verify the locations, so it may not be 100% correct, but very close.

Nanotek, thanks for the DNS list. Really appreciated your work here.

By the way, can you show us how we can find a list of DNS servers from a particular ISP? Seem like you know the trick. So we can it ourself in the future.

I'm really no expert at finding DNS servers. All I did was used the list that was passing around in the Worldcom/Cyberonic forums and updated it. In the past, I would I check out my ISP's website for the DNS servers, as they sometimes have it on there.

Also, I found 6 more MCI DNS servers.

198.6.1.10 - fwcache000.ns.uu.net - Washington, DC
198.6.1.50 - fwcache010.ns.uu.net - Sacramento, CA
198.3.114.252 - dns-bd.ans.net - Ashburn, VA
198.6.1.123 - dns2-bd.ans.net - New York, NY
198.6.1.60 - dialcache100.ns.uu.net - Washington, DC
198.6.1.70 - dialcache110.ns.uu.net - Sacramento, CA

Looks like .50 and .70 are a bit faster than .3 and .146.
Time to change

Nanotek, I see... I hope MCI and Cyberonic fix the DNS issue soon. I have being very busy this week. Haven't have the time to contact them to an update on this issue.
