Technique! Week 17 - The Idea Edition

Welcome to Technique! Week 17. Week 16 is officially closed for new photos.

I thought I'd take this week to ask everyone what kinds of techniques you'd like to see in this thread. Let's get a list of ideas going, so we can keep learning. If there's something you'd like to learn about, please post it here.

I guess since the holiday season is coming upon us, and we'll more than likely have a holiday lights in-the-dark shootoff... I would like to see some technique tutorials about shooting Christmas lights.

Anybody got that down to a T?

So can anyone provide technique for Christmas lights? Any cool effects that can make them look very neat? Anyone?

We'll scare up a technique for that for sure. For this week, I really wanted to focus on collecting new ideas for this thread. This thread has been slowly dying so I wanted to ask the forum what it is that they'd like to see in this thread.

We'll get you the technique for those lights, aggiejy See Profile, even if you did go to the *wrong* school.

How about

-Tips and software for putting together panoramics from multiples shots.

-Using flash in conjunction with long(er) exposure times.

How about for the amatuers like myself with a simple point-and-shoot camera: How or when to change ISO and other settings in ambient (indoor) lighting without a flash (for example, at a theatre play or any other indoor place that don't allow flashing cameras).

Giving photos a central focus, i.e., sometimes less is better.

I will second that. I found the Curves tool in PSP 8.10, last night, and about all I could do with it was make messes.

Oh, I knew that I was just requesting that you not get do away with that thread as it appears to be a really valuable resource.

Thanks!
