 | Any P8 Canadian Users on Rogers?? I just ordered P8 in the Toronto area and am on Rogers Hi-Speed. I'm curious if their is anyone out their from this area using the P8 service and what they think of it, or can comment in general, voice quality, reliability, etc.? Thanks |

1 edit | My parents had problems running Vonage on Rogers. They switched to AEI DSL and it works fine now.
Latency on Rogers can be quite high during peak hours. |
|
 | I use iConnectHere with a GrandStream and quality is fine. Latency is not a problem. I notice just a slow start for the calls, 1-2 sec between hearing the called party answer and the beginning of the two-way conversation.

 | reply to vsavulian vsavulian, were the problems you experienced on Rogers just latency?? What type of cable modem were your parents using? My internet connection with Rogers is great, never have any problems, and very fast now. Can you be more specific please. |
|
 | They used both the old Motorola Wave and the new RCA DOCSIS.
During peak hours, latency was in the 200ms range to the first hop. Offpeak latency was 25ms.
It's possible that the issue was specific to the area they live in. |

 | Well, my DTA-310 arrived today. It took 2 days. Shipping was expensive though. I hooked it up as the instructions said and Voila, it works. I registered and have been using the service calling friends and family to test it out. I was pleasantly surprised how good the sound quality is. I'm still waiting for a Phone Number. They are having server issues and cant assign any numbers today. I guess time will tell to see how good the service actually is. |

 | Any idea if P8 is going to be offering numbers in the 416 area code?!? I'd love one here in Atlanta!!!

 | Good Question. As I understand their are some regulatory issues or red tape involved with assisgning Canadian area codes at this point in time. Whether Packet8 wants to serve Canadian area codes is unknown. Only Vonage said officially that they will offer Canadian Area Codes, but that wont happen for the next 6 months anyways. |

 | reply to Cable Dude1 As soon as Vonage offers Canadian area codes, I'm _in_!
I'm currently using iConnectHere via Shaw Cable with good results. A little latency starting the call, but once we get rolling it's okay. 1.5 cents USD per minute on the North American 400 minute plan beats heck out of anything offered anywhere else.

 | What area code are you using. I picked 561 in Florida. My service is working great so far. |
