I need some help creating my webpage. I've went onto Charter's website, and created my name, and password. But how do I actually go to my site, and login to create it, or put stuff on it? Thanks a lot! |

You have to use FTP to upload your items.

File Transfer Protocol, there are clients that can be downloaded to use the FTP or you can do this with internet explorer, type »ftp://yourusername:password@webpages.charter.net in your address bar and then you can just drag and drop |

Yes it is a program. There are several on the web that are free. I use AceFTP 3. it is farely easy to use. |

Actually, FTP is a protocol  but you are correct in that there are several clients which aid in the moving of files
I kinda like the command line myself, but a lot of people prefer programs such as WS FTP Pro or Lite. There are a myriad of graphical programs to help you transfer the files, as well as, just using your browser. Cheers!

Thanks for the help guys. What is the "Parent Directory" button for? and is there anyway I can make it go directly to my site instead of seeing a list of links there, and having to click on one of the fils?
I was also wondering if I could have the links to some for your guys' websites, so I can see a sample of how some of them look? Thanks a lot! |

It's there by default.. if you had admin rights it would take you to the next step up the Directory Tree...

name a file index.htm or index.html and leave it in your main directory. and the system will open it by default when you type in your webaddress

I would use WS FTP if I were you It works quite well. Charter's Web space is awesome since it is unlimited Bandwidth. It works great with my site too.

I saved a file to my main directory, like you said, and it worked. I've got links in my website, and I need to know how to make those go to other pages. So how do I create more than one page, is what I think I'm trying to say. Thanks a lot!
