I'm in the same boat. DSLi told me there's no space at the DSLAM, and of course no eta if I will ever get my SDSL turned back on.

The tech I talked to just left it at that. Its interesting what that tech told you - about the businesses getting priority over residential customers.

The problem with that line of thinking is that businesses use DSLreports to find providers just as much as residential users. I wonder how many businesses are going to purchase DSL through DSLi after reading the recent horror stories .

Geez.

This is kind of a long post. I starts with my story, and ends with the REAL story from DSLi's former employees.

------------------
Heh...

Well, here's my story.

Sunday, March 25th 2001, while in the middle of kicking major butt in Star Trek: Elite Forces, I lost my service. It was weird because I still had link. So I decided to reboot my machine, thinking it was a winblows problem. I rebooted and still had no access. So I called up DSLi, and they told me the NP story and that it wasn't their fault and that I should be up within 10 business days. In the meantime, they said they would hook me up with a Temp dialup account. I said fine, and they transferred me to Tech Support where when I told them I was running win2k they told me I couldn't use the Dial-up account. I told them this was BS, and they gave me some tripe ridden answer. I was pissed, but I decided to wait the 2 weeks.

After two weeks, April 9th I called them up, and was told I should have service by that Friday, the 13th. Knowing DSLi's track record of lying, and it being Friday 13th I knew I wasn't going to have service. Friday came and went, I called Monday, was told I should be up on the 29th of the month. BLAH... whatever.. the story was the same as everyone else (up on certain date, the date arrives and nothing) until recently...

Recently, I was on vacation and I received a call from a tech support guy (I saved the voice mail message!! heh) that says I was up and running. I came home, reset my equipment and waited for sync. 30 minutes went by no sync. So I called DSLi, and after waiting for about 3 hours, I got a guy that told me to wait about 10 more minutes, I continued to wait, and about 45 minutes later, the same guy told me "Hey, aren't you the one that I told to wait 10 minutes?" I told him "yeah!", he said "Oh, sorry.. it's just that there are only 3 of us here, my boss included and him and my co worker aren't answering calls" I was taken back by this approach... But he got my ear... I was talking to an actual TECHNICIAN, We talked about my line, I told him about the message I received, and he told me that the message was BS, and that I was unplugged at the CO. I told him, so they haven't even hooked me to the DSLAM yet? and he told me "Nope, they are too busy putting businesses on the DSLAM, and if they have room, they'll put residential service on it." I was amused, and then disgusted at the same time. He then told me "It shows here you haven't paid you bill since this all started." I told him that I had not. He told me, pay them the monthly amount, because they are going to put those people on first. I was taken back again. I don't have service so I shouldn't pay I told him. He said, that when I do come up, I will be able to apply for a credit. I told him, what if I don't come up, he told me, get a lawyer... He then told me, "Be careful, you'll have sales guys calling you trying to switch you to Shared ADSL in your area. They are only trying to get you to go with a lower priced substandard service, so that you spot can be given to a business. He told me he was quitting DSLi, that they don't care about their employees nor their customers. I was a pissed and taken back by all this at the same time. He told me to find another provider, that he was leaving because he just gave his 2 weeks notice. I thanked him, and hung up.

A week went by, and I tried to get a hold of my salesman, only to find that he quit the company, so I tried going with another salesman that I knew worked with my salesman, and he too had left the company, it seems that they are losing employees and are just hiring to put bodies on the phones.

A few weeks later I get a call from a sales guy telling me that I can apply for Shared ADSL until my SDSL line came back up. I told him how much and he put me on hold, and told me the same price I had been paying for SDSL. When I asked him about hosting space (I have a DNS entry with them, and my sites been down for a while now!) He put me on hold, and then told me he'd have a customer service person leave me a message with the info. I never received that message.

Here's the story I heard, and if your out there Tech guy... thanks for all the info you provided me.
