Naperville from what I hear is a pretty shitty system, so I understand where you are coming from. I would fire off a few emails to the top people over at WOW and see what they can do, the just recently fixed an issue pretty quickly a few days back so it might not be that bad of an idea. |

| I've sent e-mails to 2 of the top people from IL as i recall ... getting the e-mails strait from their webpage. They both sent me back e-mails saying "its being worked on" and "we have a window on dec 01 to work on it" so if its not clean and fast and nice again by dec 01 im really letting them have it. I mean its unexceptable to have a shitty network and then charge people up the ass for speed u cant even come close to promising. |

Take a gander at the people in the Comcast forums and you will see that even the Comcast Chicago systems are very problematic, and WOW does not charge as much as Comcast does, so they are really getting screwed. Fixing network problems takes time to find the problem and them find the fix. It can take weeks to months to fix some issues, that is the nature of the cable beast. And if its and ingress/noise issue that is very tough to find. They would have to disconnect everyone from each segment, trap off the network then look to see if the plant itself has noise, if it doesn't then its a customer causing the problem from crappy house wiring which will require WOW to come out and fix. |

| The Comcast systems were initially based off of the old Jones systems (I know they rewired, etc.) so Comcast I don't think makes it an apples to apples in this case.
I would have hoped that the WOW network, based on similar Americast setups across their network would be somewhat more consistent when it comes to noise, levels, etc.
The tech had mentioned (for what it's worth) that the entire Naperville network is noisy. |

| Just because Ameritech built all systems does not mean anything. They are separate plants, thus will have their own problems. Its all in the way the system is maintained, and it sounds like the IL and OH systems have a problem maintaining the networks, while Michigan(WOWs largest system) is maintained properly. |

| Comparing to Comcast also meant nothing.
Please don't treat me like I'm clueless about cable. You really don't have to explain to me how any of this stuff works. I spent several years working with inventors at GI/Motorola in advanced development of cable technologies (look at some of the latest Motorola patents and there are others still not published or issued), so I understand plant issues etc.
My main point was that I would have hoped that WOW would have maintained similar operating standards across all their networks. I wasn't trying to engage in a technical discussion. |
