| Got a Letter from Time Warner about Xtreme
I got a letter from Time Warner Yesterday. It is about Road Runner Xtreme. It thanks me for being an Xtreme customer and says that as of January 1 there will no longer be an Xtreme service and that from then on I will be charged the standard price of $44.95. I guess that means that now, as we all know, that 3000 is the standard download speed, so why pay extra for it. Now I have a question or two. Will my Upload speed stay at the 512 that it is now with the Xtreme service or will it drop to 384? I might have to call them and ask to see. What about the 100 GB of total monthly bandwidth usage? Will it go back down to the standard of 384? The letter also says that they will no longer moniter my bandwidth usage with the exception of their routine bandwidth utilization scans for abuse. Did anyone know that if you have Xtreme service that RR was watching you to see how much you download? I thought I got more bandwidth than normal so why keep an eye on me to see I don't abuse it? Any body have answers to these questions? |

| reply to Doctor Who cool so this means for sure everyone should have a 512kbps upload by the 1st of January. Thank You Doctor Who for this information. No matter what happens by next year 512Kbps would be the normal upload speed for RR. |

| reply to Doctor Who There is a rumor going on right now that the upload will be changed to 512 kbit/s for everyone. Since XTreme is already 3 Mbit/s and 512 kbit/s it seems not fair to continue to charge $79 for XTreme.
This correspondence from TWC confirms that the upload will indeed be upgraded to 512 kbit/s in the course of December, just like the first rumor said it would
As far as the amount of data that you can download: I have no idea! I asked my local socal.rr.com office about data limits, and they said they had no plans as of now (2 weeks ago) to implement any sort of cap on the amount of data you can use. Whether this is a SYSTEMWIDE policy with all franchises, I do not know. -- »www.deanforamerica.com - You have the power to make a change! Support Howard Dean 2004 |
