The copyright laws in question simply have no application if you are outside the United States. I know, you are probably thinking you are inside the United States, so here is a cite your shyster lawyer will never explain to you when you get sued:
USC 17 Sec. 101 (2) The "United States", when used in a geographical sense, comprises the several States, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the organized territories under the jurisdiction of the United States Government.
and before you presume that you are located in one of the several States, here is the definition of State from the same section of US code:
"State" includes the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any territories to which this title is made applicable by an Act of Congress.
Well, I for one am not in the United States, so how are you going to make this "code" apply to me? The legislation passed by Congress have no bearing on me, any more than they would to the man on the moon.
I myself do not share or recommend that others share the copyrighted property of another, but I though I would offer up this little fact for those interested. I know this is a hot topic, and wanted to share my 2cents.
I found this little tidbit of information at »suijuris.net |
