Test slight style-sheet change..

I'm testing a style-sheet that does not fix font size to 13px but instead sets it to 80% of 'default'. This looks ok to me on opera, msie and firebird. I'd like to know if it doesn't look ok on your platform.

You can try the stylesheet by adding ?style=1
to the end of the URL.

For example, this forum:

»Forum Feature Requests

Take off the style=1 in another window and you can compare them side by side if you think it looks wrong or different on your browser.

The advantage of this test style-sheet is you can change the text sizes via browser controls. The previous one locked it to 13px (under MSIE). Firebird was happy to change text size though.

that is what I'm looking for. No difference.

But there is a difference in MSIE -- view .. text .. smaller or larger should work with the new style sheet, and not work with the old one.

There's a slight difference using Safari, but I only notice it when comparing side by side.

yeah basically 13pixels is not equal to 80% of the default font size.. but as long as the change is slight, its worth changing. Not the least because with uber monitors, 13pixels is very small.

Wait, in this thread, »Font changed in some forum fields???, a few of us commented that it appeared that fonts had changed and you seemed to question that or suggest that it's "as it has been for ages".

"Well as far as I can tell, using IE, opera, and Firebird, the font setting is back to 13px, and is as it has been for ages. So are you still saying it looks all different?"

I assume you mean this post? I bolded the important part!

IE6 6.0.2800.1106, Win2KPro, both at current update levels, 1024 x 768, 16M colors on a Toshiba laptop LCD screen looks effectively identical. There is a slight difference but not anything I'd consider objectionable. If I didn't compare the two side-by-side I wouldn't see any difference.

Similar results on two other (desktop) IE6 Win2KPro computers, and one IE5 Win95b at 800x600.

The different size texts has always worked in IE here for me both on W98SE and my new XP Pro box. The problem here is not the text in the forums which changes in IE. It's the too small text in other areas of the web page here which are not affected by choosing larger or largest text in IE. In Firebird or Mozilla all text is changed on the page when taking zoom above or below the default. This is a major reason why I stopped using IE over a year ago. I want ALL text on the web page to change when I choose from the view menu in IE.

That's actually a well-known bug in IE that Microsoft apparently decided isn't important enough to fix.

The fonts in posts look different. They look smaller than before. Is this what was supposed to happen?

Ok, I feel stupid now.

I had it set to smaller in MSIE 6.

I read thought the thread and still didn't pick up on this till just now. But, it makes sense now. Medium shows what it used to look like.

Yes, MSIE 6 View > Text size is working now.
I normally keep mine set at "Smaller," but late at night the ability to use "Medium" will be appreciated.
