I received my DTA and hooked it up yesterday. I was extremely surprised and pleased with the quality of sound while talking. When I told people I was talking to them over my internet connection they had a hard time believing me because of the clarity. The small size and attractiveness of the DTA 310 is incredible and the message indicator light is a plus too.
I really can hardly believe that it works as well as it does. This is the coolest new technology I've seen in a couple of years.
Here is a link to a picture of Packet8's DTA-310. It's beautiful!

Only a Geek like me expects lots of VoIP!
Most providers on average can compete against PSTN. The better the ISP, and the better the bandwidth, the more likely the acceptance. As a relatively new technology still, I would never make it a sole business number though.
It is great for a home with cell phone backup, and for additional lines for some businesses.

reply to T I love it more and more... The nicest thing is not to get a bill for almost $50 from BellSouth for a phone line with no long distance included. I just made a 1 hour 3-way phone call to the Philippines and my mom in the US(normally long distance). The phone call was flawless. I was suprised at how loud the person was in the Philippines. I had to turn my phone volume down.
