| [XP] Removing corner arrows from shortcuts.
Does anyone know how to remove them from the desktop shortcuts? I saw a quick tip on techtv about it, but it was a long time ago and i cant remember how.
Anyone know? Thanks -- DOWNLOAD THE STEAM CLIENT TODAY!! |

| reply to TrueAudio The easy way - download the TweakUI Power Toy for XP and disable it through the GUI.
The registry way - Remove or Change the Shortcut Arrow. -- I read the FM, and it didn't work. |

depends on your OS, 2 ways basically [edit: ok, 3 ways LOL - registry edit above too] chaning font size of icon or use TweakUI

| reply to TrueAudio Be careful with the "registry" way for WXP. It creates nasty side effect (see this thread for more details). So far I know only one safe way to remove links without side effects - you have to apply TweakUI. |

| deke - the techguy method works best for Win98 -- definitely. This simply disables the Icon Overlay Manager, such as it is.;) In Win98, using the TweakUI method or removing the "IsShortcut" values is not recommended. It either doesn't work or causes other problems.
In WinXP, it now appears that removing the "IsShortcut" value causes other problems as well! I did not know this. So, you are left with:•Disabling the Icon Overlay Manager•Using TweakUI•Directly modifying the Arrow Icon in Shell32.dll•Making the same register changes that TweakUI makes -- but, using TweakUI is easier! |
