Re: FireBird Spell Checker Found!

said by Mele20:
I have disabled spell checker version 0.4 and am going back to version 0.2 which I never had freeze. Of course, that version thinks "Firebird" is misspelled (until you add it) and lacks other improvements that are found in 0.4. However, it doesn't crash Firebird.

I haven't had that problem yet with 0.4 but after reading your post, something else is not working correctly. "Firebird" is showing as misspelled in my v0.4 (at least that is the version that is shown in extensions).

According to a post I found over in the Mozillazine forum, there is a bug in the 0.4.0 front end.

Well I'm baffled. This spellchecker was working great for me. I"m using the normal FB .7 (never tried any nightlies) and I just noticed today that the right click option to check spelling is no longer there. I've tried uninstalling the front end and reinstalling, but no luck.

Then suddenly, it began freezing upon opening and the only resort has been to c/a/d which closes Firebird and trashes my text! After this happened several times with it working inbetween the freezes, I am now reluctant to try it as I don't want to loose any more text.

I'm sorry for that freeze. The latest version is
0.3.5
. I rewrote more than a half to make it stable (removed dangerous features and add only key shortcut), and uploaded 2 days ago. 0.4 being just a proposal, now I don't think of it as way to go. These days I think it's time to start hacking components to implement "in line".

EDIT: About shortcut key, please look at the first post of this topic I updated.
So if your firebird does freeze, I'd uninstall the latest one & click on the 0.3.5 link to install what is supposed to be the fixed version.

So far no freezes yet. But I just got it a few minutes ago,

Hey Santa Fe, thanks for that! I haven't been over there yet today. I'm Scarlettrunner20. I don't recall why, way back long ago when I joined Mozillazine forums, I didn't use Mele20 so everyone who knows me would know who I was!

Glad to know Torisugari has put up a new fixed version. I switched back to version 2 yesterday and it works fine, but maybe I will go get 0.3.5 also. Thing is, my extensions begin to get cluttered. I wish there was an easy way to uninstall Firebird extensions instead of just disabling them.

Well I just noticed it has it's own little quirk. I clicked on the Check Spelling button while it was open, and found myself back at the desktop again. But other than that, no other problems. My only question is, if you right clicked to check for mis-spelled words, why have another check spelling button?
