@adelphia.net

To Adelphia Techs, Premier Tier Question.

Ill try to make it as simple as possiable. my brother works for adelphia, and we get powerlink for 10bucks/month. i am interested on the premier teir package, but my local office dont know crap. i spent a hour on the 888 hundred number to upgrade, but they said they cant touch an employee acccount, and that i must talk to local office. i called local office, and they had no idea that there is even different speed packages. i spent over 2 hours waiting on the phone to find out the local CSR knows nothing about computers/network.

so simply, if i give some of the online tech my personal info, which would prove that the account is legit, could you update my modem with preimer? just so you know, they switched us over to the 3mbit/256k last week, so i assume they are ready for preimer as well. Thanks.

As a former employee, I can tell you that no one you speak to on 800 numbers and local offices will be able to make any changes to an employee account.

Each area has someone assigned to take care of employee accounts, usually someone in local HR. Your brother needs to contact that person. Not you. If you try to make changes to an employee account that is not yours, your brother may get into some hot water.

Don't necessarily assume that because you saw the new speed changes that Premier is available. I live in Frederick, MD and we have the new speeds, but I was told Premier will not be available until at least February of next year. I imagine it has to do with rolling out new things in steps rather than all at once. They need to be able to properly support the standard speed changes before they will implement a second tier. This may be why your local tech had no idea about the packages. The best thing to do is have your brother contact HR like SkellBasher posted. If they do not fix these problems, they will know who does and will also find out if it is available.

For the work you guys do, you should get the Premier Package for 10 bucks, or free!!

As Hob would say, I concur. Too bad it is not available to either of us

On a side note, why doesn't your brother look into this?

I think employees are supposed to get Primer Tier for the 10 bucks a month. They just need to reprovision your modem appropriately. Have your brother let the Power Link supervisor/coordinator know and he should be able to make a 1 min phone call to have the speeds adjusted appropriately. If it turns into a big deal, I'll try to see if I can obtain a copy of the memo (no guarantee I can find it though)

---- *I was informed by someone else that it may be an additional 37 bucks - so I'll have to find out Monday if I get a chance* ---

Here in Buffalo all employee accounts and changes are handle by two specific agents. Anything to be done to employee accounts are done by those two agents. If your area has premier service available I'm sure it's an additional charge, although I don't know how much. Your brother should be the one asking considering it is registered as an employee account.

Damn, I wish I lived in an Adelphia service area. My Charter pipeline is $29.95 per month alone (non including TV services) and I own my modem.

Did I mention that is for a 256/128 connection?

I bet many here want the "Honorary Adelphia CSR" certifcate sooner than later?

$10/month... after all is $10 A MONTH!

Peace

(But, I do have a way to nip that invisible parallel running NIC setup in the bud (Windows XP) and to swat QoS away in order to take advantage of speed increases.... but.. I'm not a big downloader and yes, it's on the up and up.)
