I just went to GSM from TDMA and my coverage actually appears to be better.

Well, I'm glad GSM has worked out for you, because here in Texas...it's crap. I had their TDMA service in 2001 and it was superb. With TDMA, I averaged one dropped call every month or two, and most of those weren't caused by my service. I traveled to all the major (TX) cities and the Texas/Mexico border, and coverage was excellent and consistent.
Now with GSM, I average a dropped call every other day, and I can almost guarantee those are the fault of my service. This is also after changing out cell phones three times. Again, I've traveled to all the major (TX) cities and West Texas, and coverage is inconsistent. My signal always drops around the George Bush Turnpike & I-635 area in Las Colinas, TX. It never fails to fail in that area.
I can't wait until the contract is up so I can go back to TDMA and get a decent looking phone:
