 [Cable] Problems in NYC...?

Although I do think my tests are OK...the thing is that something is happening with Earthlink (meaning TW..)Cable here never ever (for almost a year) had a problem and now for three days in a row (specially at evenings/nights) the service seems very unstable...my speeds are going up & down from one moment to another..anyways...i did answer the 11 q...(although i gotta tell you...Line Quality was done yesterday...speeds and tweaks today)...:

1.- »ny-monitor.dslreports.com/tweak/···a=normal

2.- »/speedte···70744077

3.- »/quality/nil/1232862

4.- Cable

5.- N/A

6.- N/A

7.- Windows ME

8.- 2000/384 (although down is actually 3000 they haven’t updated website info)

9.- Network

10.- Belkin F5D5230-4

11.- N/A

Everything looks ok. On the Line Quality test, you can ignore the West Coast test since the East Coast test is fine.

Are you getting disconnected at night or just seeing erratic speeds? If it's erratic, you might want to run the speed test and the Line Quality test when it's erratic and post those results.

Also, a good speed test is the »nyc.speakeasy.net test besides the one you ran.

Which cable modem do you have?

I knew it's gonna be that way (meaning....ok for the moment..) now 16:45 ET seems fine...the thing is they are erratic...(i'll try to post another test when that happens...
I tried to do the speakeasy test from NY server but couldn't...got this "I/O exception" in status bar...
The modem is an RCA model DCM215
txs anyway

This last test showed a little loss at your hop.

Look at »charterpipelinentx.net/RCA.htm for info on how to get your signals. What are the Forward and Return paths show for you?

Acceptable Ranges:
Downstream/Receive: -15dbmV to +15dbmV
Upstream/Transmit: 30dbmV to 55dbmV
Signal-to-Noise/Carrier-to-Noise Ratio: 30dB or greater

I'm sorry....couldn't get into modem diagnostics....didn't work...don't know why...could be because my modem is a RCA DCM215 (and not 235)...i would love to know how to see info from the modem actually...anyone?

Couldn't find any specifics but typically »192.168.100.1 should get you in there. If you have a router it could be preventing you from getting to the modem. You'll want to direct connect 1 PC to the modem, then power off the modem for 15 secs and then back on and retry at »192.168.100.1

I live in Fresh Meadows, NY (not too far from fjimenezusa)

I've been having problems too. My connections have been REALLY UNBEARABLY SLOW.. it feels like I'm back on dail-up!

I tried many speed tests and they all come up with about 150k when I should be getting at least 2Mb
