Re: Disk Read Error

noooo!!!!!!!, dont do that!!!, thats the worst thing EVER.

First of all, you payed, im assuming 200 for this peice of equipment, as did I. Who would want to send your ps2 to the company that makes it to have it fixed and you pay for it, bleh.

Heres what I did.

Take the ps2 apart, your gonna have to go through some small phillips head screw drivers and cases and what not to get to the lens, but when you get there, apply Distilled Alcohol to a cue-tip and whipe that sucker down. Then apply another cue-tip to the lens to wax it dry. I also recommend taking a vacuum cleaner to it and sucking out all that dust. Good Luck, and for a smarter, more in-depth look at that, just check out techtv or theres more on the net, just search on google: Disk Read Error

Thats only a temp fix. Over time the laser gets weaker and weaker. Better to send it in and have it replaced while you can than to slap a band-aid on it. That was one of the main problems with the first models. So cleaning the lens will only possibly give you a little more time. Having it replaced and getting a new 90 day warranty is the better way to go. IMO.
