How about »www.apache.org/. Almost two thirds of the net seems to prefer using it: »news.netcraft.com/archives/web_s···vey.html
Setup isn't entirely trivial, but then again its not that hard once you know what you're doing.

Smoothwall might be an alternative, but you are probably better of figuring out why networking no longer works. |

Apache runs on *NIX and it also runs on Windows. It is a great server. I highly recommend running on a *NIX os as it is rock solid that way.
Apache works great with PHP, Perl, and most other scripting languages. There are also all sorts of different "plugins" (wrong word, is the correct word modules?) for it that allow you to do almost anything.
As someone said above, the config reequires editing some config files, but there is tons of helpful information on the net.

E-smith is Nix based, but the interface sucks and I really have no clue why it isn't working.

Must have all thought Apache was too complex (right) to operate, and was taking them too much money, so they spent all their money switching back to IIS and just went belly up.
The ones who survived are now scurrying along now and barely keep up with those who chose to run Apache. |

| or maybe microsoft approached them with a deal, "too good to pass up", in order to boost IIS mindshare, and they ignored the moans from their sysadmin guys and went with it. And their sysadmin guys left or could not provide the kind of stability that they wanted.
