| [XP] Wrong Recovey Disk
I purchased a hp pavillion N5000 series custom laptop about a year ago. I've finally opened up the recovery disk to reformat and clean install they system. But when i boot from the cds, a message comes up saying wrong model notebook. Where do i go to get the right disk? I called HP they wanted to charge me 30 bucks to have a 7 day warranty. I couldn't understand the "tech support" so i didn't give them my credit card number.
If HP wants to charge me for them then they're crazy because i'm assuming that they sent me the wrong disks. What am i suppose to do? Please help me out here.
I might have to just go buy a copy of xp or install linux. |

| Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. If they give you the run around, look online for the number to the corporate headquarters and give them a call. Don't tell them your problem (you'll get booted back to cs) but ask for the vice president in charge of customer relations. Then on to the president of cr if needed. You might add that you're also the purchaser for your company and you'll remember this experience in the future . |

| reply to charlie_boy5582 Seems to me that HP is obligated to send you the correct OEM Restore CD's I used to have a Compaq Desktop and I was able to get the restore CD's for about 10 bucks, that was because my warranty had ran out, if it was still intact the restore CD's would have been free, I'd try calling HP again, just tell them, that you don't want to buy a warranty tell HP that all you want is the correct restore CD's for your Pavillion N5000, always remember: "The sqeeky Wheel always get's the oil" you will have to be persistent with them to get what you want Good Luck!!! -- Microsoft XP/2000 Is The Best OS Ever Made |
