Does anyone have a RT314 working on xbox live? I have tried different steps on the internet and they do not seem to work. I am thinking about getting a cisco soho 71. Thanks, David |

i kind of believe them but they are being a bit strict. They seem to offer a work around. |

| reply to dsheli I actually did get Xbox Live to work with my RT314 by putting the Xbox IP in what I think was called the DMZ, it's the first IP you can enter to open ports. It's been so long since I messed with it I forget the exact name. It worked, but basically when it wanted too. Nothing the Xbox Live website gives you for a workaround acually does work. Me and a friend had the same router and never got Microsoft's way to work. I've since upgraded to a Linksys befw11s4 (well, an upgrade at the time) and have never had a problem. |

| reply to dsheli I had a Rt314 and replaced if with a newer model, then I found the fix posted in the Netgear forum, by I think Drtcp. Do a search for Rt314 and Xbox during late 2002/early 2003. I has to do with changing your filters. I guess MS sends out fake packets that the router interpretes wrong and drops the connection.

It is the forum I was talking about!!! |

| reply to dsheli I have got that set up and managed to get it to work. You have to assign a static address to the xbox and put that address into the default SUA box in the rt314 setup. Then the rt314 will open the necessary ports for the xbox. You might then run into the problem of intermittent connection in which case you have to put some complicated filters into the rt314 to get it to ignore a specific packet sent by microsoft. |
