Re: Comcast to buy Northern Va. Adelphia systems?

On a related note, found this on »cbs.marketwatch.com while checking stocks.

Quote from article..
quote:
Adelphia Communications Corp. (ADELQ) could also be a target when it emerges from bankruptcy next year, said Craig Moffett, cable analyst at Bernstein Research. Adelphia has systems in western New York that could fit with Time Warner Cable's footprint.

BUT, just like the original poster, this is all just speculation. Nothing concrete here. No need to start up the rumor mill folks.

Nice post. Like I said, I wonder if any sources were originally cited. If not, I would have a hard believing it and dismissing it... since I hate rumors.

Exactly, this is no more than a rumor at this point. However, the rumor that Comcast has had the interest in buying up the few systems in the DC metro area that they don't already own has been going around for some time now. And the guy who runs this site has a reputation for having fairly reliable contacts in the industry. It would be a lot more interesting to hear that they were going after the enormous Cox system in Fairfax County, which is easily ten times the size of Adelphia in Loudoun.

Personally, I'd prefer that the Loudoun system remains in the hands of Adelphia. I really can't complain about Adelphia too much, and I have friends with Comcast in the area who pay about $20 more for a similar level of programming and service.
