Anyone else embarrassed.....

when telling people your email address? I recently have had to give a few C.E.O.s , bank execs. and lawyers my wowway.com address , and they all look at me like it`s some strange, seedy domain site. Not a big deal, but I`m getting tired of explaining that I`m normal and it`s just Wide Open West cable.

wowway and wideopenwest both seem abnormal to me...

Hop on over to godaddy.com and register your own domain name with mail service for a few bucks. Just because it comes with your wow account, doesn't mean you have to use it.

Edit---> As a matter of fact, it will only cost you a few bucks a year »https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/email.asp···m%5Fapp=

They are strange addresses yes, but I am not embarrassed when they are given out, I have no weird looks or comments from anyone. What domain would you like WOW to use, maybe a suggestion is needed. You could always get a free yahoo account and get you own domain.

Not that WOW would even care, but I think a better domain would be wowinternet.net

This is pathetic. This is the internet and WOW is a major service provider. If these people don't know that then explain that to them. Just because you addy is wowway.com should not raise an eyebrow. I'm amazed that this would be an issue or you feel that this "concern" is even worthy of posting on this board. jeesh!

Don`t get me wrong , it`s not like I`m losing sleep over this. I wouldn`t have posted anything if I thought someone would take it so serious. It`s just comical when a C.E.O of an oil co. asks me " What`s wowway"? thinking its some pRon site or something. I remember a lot of people here in the forum had the same complaint when WOW switched from wideopenwest to wowway.
I`m with you Comp Wiz, wowinternet.net would sound much more professional. Next time I mention anything "tongue in cheek" I`ll post a disclaimer for folks like eleventhhour. I`m thinking "jeesh" myself.

I might register wowinternet.net, and set it up so that people can get username@wowinternet.net forwarded to username@wowway.com or username@wideopenwest.com. Of course, it would be free.

Personally, I like where www.wow.com redirects me. But, I suppose WOW could try to buy that from Compuserve. I don't know if that address would continue to get second looks though.

I've never liked the wowway.com address either. Their name is Wide Open West Internet And Cable or "WOWIAC" for short. Just checked godaddy and WOWIAC is available in .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info and all the others too.

"I'm a WOWIAC, how about you??"

How about americast.org? Or we could pounce on americast.net or .com when it's available. Americast was a great name, shouldn't have dropped it.

The name of the service is WOW! Internet and Cable. The name of the company is WideOpenWest, LLC. WOW stands on it's own now, and is no longer considered as standing for WideOpenWest.

OK, then they could use WOWLLC.com, which is still available. I just don't understand the choice of WOWWAY.com as the official URL. It's difficult to give over the phone due to the double "W" in the name. It's got to be spelled out verbatim in order to be sure the recipient has it right.

Then tell them ...@wideopenwest.com which works, that's what I do (instead of, "what, wowie? can you spell that?").

I had a hard time trying to spell it to a guy on the phone. As it turns out if there are 2 alike letters next to eachother people can't understand it. Since that happens 4 times in my e-mail, no one can spell it.
